Protrax® RETRO is a software package that automatically analyses pre-recorded video tapes in real-time to identify and record specified events. Such events could include intrusion into pre-defined zones, or object verification with relation to size, speed and track.
An operator can quickly and easily define an event and then leave the system to find occurrences of that event automatically. For example it is possible to search for someone going through a door. The system will find all such occurrences of this but ignore people or vehicles passing the door. Having found the events these will be re-recorded and stored for later viewing together with both pre and post-event video footage. Meanwhile the operator can be engaged on other tasks.

Protrax® RETRO will analyze any analogue tape format including VHS tapes, time-lapse tapes, DV and PC based files such as AVI. The results of the analysis operation can be saved on VHS tape. The software runs on a standard PC using Microsoft Windows XP. The product is currently in use by the Metropolitan Police and many other police forces throughout the UK.
